The drought is definitely over
I made it to Bronner's Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, Mich., on my way home from a trip to Chicago. Needless to say, I found some penguins.
In fact, there were penguins in the rafters.
Happy Feet was playing on a loop up in Penguin Heaven. (I don't know if you can make out the detail, but that's an entire section of cupcake ornaments down below.)
Bronner's is huge: five football fields of Christmas decorations, the world's largest Christmas store.
It's an amazing American story, but you should try to visit someday and let Wally Bronner tell it to you himself. Did I mention the replica of the Austrian Silent Night Chapel?
If you're lucky, you'll have time for a family style chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn nearby, or, like me, a plate of sausages and sauerkraut.
I don't even know how many penguin ornaments I bought. I need to unpack them, photograph and catalog them, and then start posting again here on My Penguin Tree. Stay tuned.
