This is more than just another cute ceramic penguin ornament. It’s also a bell. The string coming out of its head has a ceramic clapper attached on the inside that makes a tinkling sound when you shake it. The ring is a little bit clunky, because the string has come loose, probably because the ornament has to hang by the same string. I fixed it once before many years ago, but it probably needs some repair work before next Christmas.
